Comar SW-80 Race Go Cart Engine Replacement.

A father and son team whom I have grown rather fond of asked us to replace their race cart engine.
The youngster shows great potential and it is a sheer pleasure to observe his natural talent.

Common problem to these types of high compression two stroke engines is that the pull started takes a good knock each time it is used.

Although it is a good design and lasts well, nothing lasts forever.
So the father and sponsor of the team has requested we replace the engine because the pull starter has dropped them so many times.

Seen in the photo the pivots and springs on the flywheel that contact the pull starter get lazy and fail to spring back after use.

RX7 ROTARY ENGINE MELTDOWN

This engine was removed from a track-car that races the circuits here in Melbourne. 
The large extend-port rotary engine lost the plot when the waste-gate decided to no longer cooperate with the rest of the team. OVER-BOOST?

This engine was flooded at some stage! But with what?

Well the corroded impression of the rotor and the brown stain at the bottom end of the housing suggest coolant or water ingression at some point in time.

Badly scored rotor casings, now scrap for two reasons.

1) Apex seals let go and left their signature all over the casing

2) Heat seizure caused by the lack of lubrication, that is right,                no pre-mixed fuel in the gas tank. OH now we Remember this is a glorified 2 stroke engine
