4 POST HOIST UPGRADE - TOYOTA WORKSHOP.

Nathan and myself called out to deign a more robust ramp system for a Toyota Workshop here in Melbourne.

Requirements - Strong and durable enough to handle sustained use.
                       - Cope with the weight of a  Toyota  20 seater Coaster bus. (4 tons)

The existing ramps "gave way" as the bus was being driven onto the hoist.

As the hoist lifts the ramp folds down allowing the end piece to act as a emergency stop - should someone forget to apply the handbrake.
This feature was to be incorporated in the new design.

Another view of the built-in safety stop that needed to be built in.

Now we understand why this poor little ramp could not sustain the brutal weight of a Coaster bus.
3 strips of 25 mm flat bar just don't make the grade.

Part one of the solution - a new set of short rams that would be mounted to the hoist.

Nathan finding the right position for the new rams.
Holes needed to be drilled before the ramps are attached with high tensile bolts.

So fabrication of the new support rams begin.

The ramps completed, painted and installed at the right spot in-front of the hoist..

The new short ramps installed.

Checking out the operation of the emergency stop as the hoist travels up.

Both hoists pictured were modified to the new design.
Ramps completed and ready to work.

We done Nathan!
